Sin is a terrible thing, it destroys
everything it touches, like a disease, which the bible says
ultimately leads to death. The results of which can be seen all
around the world we live, it's corrupt, sickness abounds, pain,
misery, wars and bloodshed, it all stems from the sinful nature
of mankind.
Satan was the first to sin, he was once an
angel, (the bible says he directed music in heaven in fact), but
he rebelled against God and was cast out of heaven taking a
third of the angels with him.
He then proceeded to tempt Adam and Eve who were the next to
sin, and through them the earth became cursed and sin took hold
of mankind.
The bible puts it like this:
Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned
However it also makes clear that "All have sinned" and again it says:
Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
We have
all broken Gods law, we have all rebelled against Him and lived
our own life our own way.
And it's that very sin that separates us from God. He loved us
even as sinners, yet He hates sin. He is pure,
holy, perfect in
everyway. The bible calls Him just, and one day when we stand
before Him we shall be found guilty and judged accordingly. The
bible speaks about heaven and hell, a place of absolute beauty
and perfection, and a place of eternal torment and darkness.
The problem is we can do nothing to change our sinful state,
even our 'good works' God regards as:
Isaiah 64:6 But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags
There's
nothing we can do to save ourselves. Gods law is like a pane
of glass, once broken in part the
whole thing is broke.
Maybe in your eyes
you look relatively good compared to those
around us, maybe you consider yourself so far down the ladder
there can never be any hope for you, it's irrelevant because all
have sinned and all have
fallen short. No one meets Gods
standard.
However
the bible also says God loved us, even before the foundation of
the earth. Jesus talked about love being an action, more than
simply words or feelings. And He demonstrated His great love
to us by sending
His Son, Jesus Christ into the world to become
the offering for our sin. Here it says:
John 3:16 For God so loved the
world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes
in Him
should not perish but have everlasting life.
Jesus became the ransom:
1 Timothy 2:5-6 For there
is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the
Man Christ Jesus, who
gave Himself a ransom for all
He took our place, it says He bore our sin
and carried our sorrows, and by His stripes we are healed.
He
made a way for us to be lifted out of our sinful condition. To
be forgiven, restored, healed, set free,
and to enter a
relationship with Himself through His Son Jesus.
John 14:6Jesus said to him, “I
am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father
except
through Me.
We are called to first believe.
Then to put that belief into action which is called faith, to
simply believe is not enough. The bible talks about repentance
which simply means a turning around. To turn to God and admit
your a sinner, ask Him to forgive
you and become your Savior,
and confess that from this moment you are finished living your
way, that Jesus is the Lord of your life and from now on you
will follow Him.
You see when you stand before God sin will not
be the issue, the issue will be what you did with the Gods
sacrifice, what you did with Jesus.
Salvation is the greatest gift ever given, yet it comes with
a huge price. God demands your all. No longer
shall I live
my way, but His. No longer is my life my own, it's His. No
longer do I live to please me, but Him. It calls for a complete
laying down of your life, but in return God will fill you with
His, He will put His Spirit
within you.
Repent, be baptized, and come follow me says Jesus today!
