Leek Pentecostal Church

I was born in 1947, two years after the war finished.  I am an only child and was given a lot of love by my parents.
Those days it seemed a more common practice for people to attend Church, which my parents and I did;
I was even in the Church choir and became the leading choirboy.

My Mum and Dad always taught me about doing and saying the right things and being polite to people.

I enjoyed things like the boy scouts and any sort of adventure and was very fond of my wider family such as cousins and Aunts and Uncles.

Sadly I seemed largely unpopular with many of the children I met in my school life and was sometimes the victim of intimidation and bullying.

The rules that my Mum and Dad taught me, for all the right intentions, often made me stick out as odd but I had no convictions to back up the rigid behaviour that I set myself.

At around 15years I left the choir and going to church and led a life of selfishness, drunkenness and immorality.

As I grew older I loved to travel around abroad, sometimes on my own, always looking for that something…

I got involved heavily in the occult and joined a transcendental meditation group but nothing really reached the spot.

In 1982, after visiting an old friend in Bermuda, I set off for the USA and travelled across on the greyhound bus.  Meeting another old friend at Sanfransisco we spent three weeks up in the Yosemite National Park he then left for England and I got a job working on a goldfish farm.

It was during this time I was spoken to by a real Christian who told me good and straight about Jesus Christ, His forgiveness, and His great plan for my life.  Shortly after this I asked Jesus to take away my sins and come into my heart.  At that moment I knew something wonderful had happened to me that, I had never known before, and many things about life that I had questioned all began to fit into place.  I was baptized in water and soon after this was baptized in the Holy Ghost and spoke with other tongues and I have never been the same since and I am now 62yrs.

I just love Jesus so much and it is He that has done everything for me, He has given me a lovely wife and three great sons who love Jesus too.

It is a privilege for me to share this story of God and His goodness with you, may He be praised for ever and forever

Love Alan
